Middle Ages lives on in Franken

Last weekend was spent with the in-laws, celebrating the 400th anniversary of Betzenstein's Stadtrecht.
They did a fabulous job, in spite of the weather, and we got to see lots of Middle Ages costumes, some nice parades and hear some lovely music.
Here are a few pics, sadly all taken on my fuzzy cell phone.

Monks smoking filter cigarettes and drinking beer...
A little torture to pass the time. He was stretched on the rack and tickled for letting his wife beat him.
Every one of the 22 ortsteile had a display of some form.
