Perfecting my 2 Patch
Much as I adore the energy and love that Bonnie Hunter puts into her work, sometimes I just have to say, "To heck with leaders and enders! I need to see some progress on this friggin' Triple Irish Chain."
After a very frustrating troublesome work day, I needed something to comfort me. That ended up being my Triple Irish. I'd sorted pairs of squares together into batches of 24 unique sets on Sunday, and the little plastic tomato carrier was begging me to sew those squares together.
So I sewed 2-patches, and it felt so good!
Here are the results, sets of 24 2-patches. They may be enough to form the 7x7 scrappy blocks for my Triple Irish, but I'm too lazy today to look up how many I need. How does that German saying go? "Wer lesen kann ist im Vorteil." Of course, she who actually DOES read has an even bigger advantage.

Cathedral Stars progress
After finishing the blocks at the last retreat, I now have a final layout.
However, the picture below is not the final layout, it's just close. I forgot photograph the latest one before I took it down off the design wall. At least I did mark each block individually before I stacked them up.
Arrgh, feeling a little quilt stress, because I'm now 3 weeks behind on Grandmother's Choice, I want to finish the Cathedral Stars, I haven't touched Isa and Philip's quilt since the retreat, and I've been fiddling with teeny tiny little thread bits in my fancy machine. There are so many sensors in the thing, Kuni (her name) can get very upset. Also, it seems I'm not as good at embroidering on water-soluble stabilizer as I thought I was. At least next week is 2 fun gatherings, then I have glorious free time to do whatever I want.

It takes all kinds of people...
...to make the world.
Never in my life had I imagined there would be a need for a cover for a brick.
But there is, there are even patterns for such things.

Took a fall, and some embroidery
While at work last week, I fell and injured my hand. The palm is pretty bruised and sprained, which means I can't handle much, since my left hand is mostly non-functional.
However, it is possible to do some embroidery and I've been working on some projects.
Here is a box in the hoop. I can't finish it, because it requires hand sewing, and I simply don't have the dexterity. It will wait.

Retreat withdrawl
Or recovery? I'm still not sure, but it was a blast.
Inbetween retreats I even got to spend some time with Dear Hubby, and we went to Ludwigsburg to the Penitentiary museum. Fascinating. While we were there, a group of young men came by. As we came to the exhibit of youth cells, DH noticed two of the group inside the cell. When he offered to close the door so they could experience "the real thing" they said, "No thanks, we know that already." They seem to be on some sort of "scared straight" field trip.
Here a couple of pictures, starting with a spider who sadly lost two of her legs while guarding the candy corn.
Check out the women imprisoned in 1789. Punishments included

You know you've enjoyed your quilting-cation when...
... you can't remember the password to the network at work.
Is it quilting-cation, or maybe quilt-a-cation, or ??
