Bad Herrenalb redux

Same location as last September, only the faces, fabric and projects have changed.
By the way, it sucks to have a fever in a hotel.

Deeply philisophical thought for the day

If we have
  • a pair of pants for 2 legs
  • a pair of glasses for 2 eyes
  • a pair of earrings for 2 ears
  • a pair of socks for 2 feet
Why do we have "a bra?"

Sternen BOM progress

The stars are all sewn, and on Sunday I put together several of the rows. Here's a fuzzy picture to show where I am, my ipod just doesn't want to take good pictures (no comments about the photographer, please). If you step very far back from your computer, it might even look like it's in focus. :)
There will be very little leftover dark purple when I'm done - I had to use the template and count out the exact number of triangles I need. Outside of the purple will be more magenta.

I made a pretty! and a couple of cutes!

Learning more about embroidery and design editing. Now it's time to move forward on Ilse's quilts.
Here's the pretty - my own design, uses several special stitches and a fill pattern. Learned to move the first stitch by reshaping the item.

Also stitched a couple of bugs for a baby quilt. They're cute!

Heartbreaking Indiana Tornadoes

Tornadoes in Indiana on Friday sparked memories of 1974, when I was a teenager, huddled in a closet in my parents' home, praying for the tornado to pass over. We had the benefit of geography, as the tornadoes came from the north, bounced up over some hills called Floyds Knobs, and landed in Kentucky.
2012 has brought a new wave of tornadoes. Here are some of the news reports.

The area of tornadoes would have completely covered Germany. See how big Germany is compared to the US below.
